High-Quality 44mm Iroko Slats

Our Iroko fence slats provide customers with a golden yellow to a darker brown, vibrant product ideal for use in any garden renovation project.

Iroko timber is incredibly durable and, as an African hardwood, can be used on many projects such as fence panels, gates, screens, furniture, and more, including internal projects.

These vibrant tones make these fencing slats a favourite, with customers looking to create or enhance the modern tone of their property.

This 44mm slat measures 44mm x 17mm and is available in 1.8m, 2.1m and 2.4m lengths.

Please note: we strongly urge customers to use stainless steel fixings as this safeguards the timber against potential staining.

Highest Quality Iroko Wood

Originating from Africa, Iroko timber arrives on UK shores as a stunning alternative to popular timbers such as Larch, Cedar and Cambia.

The golden yellow, brown tones have seen a surge in popularity with architects, landscape designers, and influencers alike.

Iroko is a hardwood that is incredibly durable and can be used on various building projects.

The panels, gates, and furniture created can last 30 years plus.

If left to age naturally, these wide Iroko slats will fade to a silvery grey over 12-18 months.

Standard 44mm Slat

Our standard Iroko slats offer a premium finish that competes with our cedar alternatives.

The slats come with slightly rounded corners and natural resistance to negatives such as insect damage, bacteria and rotting.

FAQs

Below are some of the most popular questions that we get asked daily. Should you require any further info or have any other questions, please contact us directly.

Is Iroko easy to work with?

Being a hardwood, Iroko can be a little trickier to work with than our durable softwoods.

Hardwoods have a tendency to bow, and as much as we will always check the quality, with Iroko, you will get a small number of slats that bow; this is quite normal, and allowances for the correct fixing points must be made.

Allow additional vertical fixing points of around 400 – 500mm & always add 5-10% additional material to your order to allow for natural defects.

How do I store my slats?

Always lay your slats flat, do not stand, as this will cause your slats to bow and make fixing them a little more challenging.

If storing slats before installing, try and store them in a dry place such as a garage or shed. If this is not possible, we suggest laying them on timbers to keep them off the ground and covering them with a tarp.

If left wrapped in bundles and they get wet, then surface mould can grow; this is easily brushed off or sometimes may need light sanding.

Do I need to treat my slats?

Iroko is a hardwood that is incredibly durable and has a lifespan of around 25-30 years, longer if treated regularly.

Over time if left, your Iroko slats will weather to a silver-grey colour and, after several years, will give an almost driftwood colour.

If you wish to help protect your slats from this greying effect, use a quality UV protection oil. See our range on our accessories page.

UV oils help slow the ageing process and may require annual re-application to keep the wood looking its best.

Is Iroko low-maintenance?

Iroko wood is relatively low maintenance.

Like other premium timbers, the colouring of Iroko will transform into a stunning silvery grey if left to age naturally over 12-18 months. This is something that customers choose to allow.

Colouring and lifespan can be enhanced with wood care treatments.
