Douglas Fir Privacy Gates

Our Douglas Fir privacy gates offer a stylish and budget-friendly solution for adding a modern touch to any outdoor space. This wood integrates effortlessly into diverse garden settings with a light sandy colour palette similar to our Siberian Larch products.
Known for its softwood properties, Douglas Fir is exceptionally robust and well-equipped to handle the UK’s fluctuating weather conditions for an extended period. Typically, this timber can last up to 20 years and even beyond when regularly treated.

The gate incorporates our 61mm interlocking slats, designed to mimic the appearance of our 44mm slats while adding a 5mm shadow line. This feature ensures total privacy, as the slats have no visible gaps.

We provide these gates in multiple sizes tailored to your unique requirements and offer customisation options upon request.

Should you have any questions regarding the gate or wish to discuss bespoke options please contact us today on 0161 764 5362 or 07884 184 842.

Douglas Fir Timbers

Douglas Fir is renowned for its long-lasting qualities, making it a go-to choice for builders, architects, and landscape experts. This timber offers a variety of benefits for outdoor use, including its resistance to rot, water, and insect damage, all while requiring little to no maintenance.
Our privacy gates feature 61mm Douglas Fir interlocking slats, offering a premium finish that competes with our cedar, Iroko, and Cambia alternatives. For extended durability and aesthetic integrity, we highly advise using stainless steel fixings to prevent any unwanted chemical reactions that could result in stains or discolouration.

We are committed to environmentally responsible practices, sourcing all our timber, including Douglas Fir, from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). By opting for our timber gates, you are aligning with a sustainable choice that enhances your property and reflects your dedication to environmental stewardship.

FAQs

Below are some of the most popular questions that we get asked daily. Please contact us directly if you require further info or have other questions.

Is Douglas Fir Low Maintenance?

Douglas Fir does not require any maintenance thanks to the hard-wearing properties of the timber. We do advise customers to treat with a UV oil or some form of wood care treatment to help preserve colouring and longevity.

Is Douglas Fir a Sustainable Timber?

Douglas Fir is often considered a sustainable timber option, especially when it is sourced from well-managed forests certified by organisations like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These certifications ensure that the timber is harvested in a way that provides environmental, social, and economic benefits, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the forest ecosystem.
Sustainable forestry practices include replanting to replace harvested trees, protecting water quality, enhancing wildlife habitats, and maintaining biodiversity. By sourcing Douglas Fir from such certified forests, you can ensure that you are making an eco-friendly choice.

What is the lifespan of Douglas Fir?

Even though Douglas Fir is a softwood, the timber is very hard-wearing and will easily withstand the British weather for years to come, with the timber, on average, lasting up to 20 years.
