Cedar Slatted Fence Panel
Cedar Slatted Fence Panels – Designed for Modern Gardens
Our cedar slatted fence panels are built for people who care about design and durability. They’re made from premium Western Red Cedar, a timber known for its stability, straight grain, and natural resistance to decay.
Use them for boundary fencing, garden screening, or to break up outdoor zones. The modular slatted format creates a smart backdrop without blocking light.
Western Red Cedar is a great timber for our slatted screen panels, being full of natural oil which helps protect against rot and decay, very lightweight and easy to handle, cuts, planes, and sands easily.
Slatted screening offers not only a modern and contemporary look to your garden, but also gives a great backdrop for planting, see our gallery pics of our screens in a Gold Medal winning garden at Tatton Park that was shown on BBCs Gardeners World.
The Panels are simple to install with no special tools needed and being in modular sections are extremely easy to handle and install. Slatted screening provides privacy without the feeling of being boxed in like traditional fencing and allows light and wind to pass through the panel.
Installation & Handling
- Panels over 900mm high arrive in modular sections—lighter to lift, easier to install.
- Slatted panels fix directly to posts, rails, or a frame—no special tools needed.
- Download our installation guide or get in touch if you’re unsure.
About Western Red Cedar
Not all cedar is created equal. We only use Canadian Western Red Cedar—widely regarded as one of the best fencing timbers available.
Why it works for fencing:
- Naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insect damage
- Contains natural oils—no chemical treatments needed
- Stable in all weather—won’t warp, shrink, or split
- Lightweight but strong, making it ideal for slatted construction
- Smooth finish with rich colour tones—from light amber to deep red
Unlike pressure-treated softwoods, cedar doesn’t leach chemicals, stain surrounding surfaces, or require ongoing treatments.
PEFC-certified and responsibly sourced.

What is a Modular fence panel?
Modular panels are smaller sections built to mount one on top of the other to achieve the finished height. For example, the 1800mm high panel comes as 2x smaller 900mm sections that are simply stacked one on top of the other to achieve the finished height of 1800mm. One will have a capping strip fitted, and all panels are labelled top and bottom. See our gallery pictures of our panels; all these pictures are made from our modular panels.
Why do you not just supply my panel at full height?
Coming from a background of fitting fencing for a number of years, we wanted to build a panel that was easy to install regardless of your experience. With this in mind, we have designed our panels in modular sections. Modular panels are easy to handle. One person can easily install this type of fencing, although it does make things quicker with another pair of hands.
Modular panels are easier to transport, this keeps the delivery cost as low as possible and makes damage less of a risk.? Being in sections means if any adjustments are needed to fit your area, these are also much easier than struggling with one large and heavy fence panel.
The warm, rich, mix of colours from light honey, reddish browns, to deep dark brown, these make a great backdrop for planting and offer more than just a boundary line, the panels become a feature of the garden or area they are being used in. Our Western red cedar is very high quality, exceptionally durable, lightweight and easy to work with, making it the timber of choice for both looks and lifespan. Western red cedar contains natural protective oil that helps resist rot and decay, meaning no further chemical treatment is needed. Cedar can be left to weather over time to a silver-grey colour or to keep the warm rich tones, simply apply a clear oil containing a UV protector, these are readily available online. Our cedar is also sourced from well managed, sustainable forests and has FSC/PEFC Certification.
Weathering & Treatment Like all timber Western Red Cedar will weather if left.
Do my panels need treating?
All timber, when exposed to UV rays and the elements, will weather. This is a process where the timber turns silvery grey over time. The time this effect can take varies depending on the amount of direct sunlight, exposure to moisture, and the type of timber.
Treating the timber with a UV protection oil will help slow the weathering effect and maintain its appearance. The oil will also help prevent the sun and elements from turning silver-grey over time. Benefits of treating your timber with a UV protection oil include long-lasting protection against weathering, enhancement of the natural look, colour, and grain of the timber, and a consistent finish.
Osmo UV Stabilising Oil Extra is one brand that will help prevent weathering.
Can you build panels to a certain width?
Yes, we often build panels to specific widths; this can save a lot of time when installing and saves you from having to trim a panel to fit.
When it comes to heights we will always build as close as possible as the height will be determined by the slat size and the gap size, so if you panel is slightly over or under this is the reason.
How do I install cedar slatted panels?
All panels are modular and designed for simple installation with standard tools.
Can I customise the panel size or slat spacing?
Absolutely. Whether you’re cladding a garden wall or need precise spacing for privacy, we can build to order. Contact us with your specs.
What’s the difference between 6mm and 12mm gaps?
6mm offers more privacy. 12mm allows more light and airflow—good for garden zoning or screens.
Will the panels fade over time?
Yes, untreated cedar turns a silver-grey. If you want to preserve the original tone, we recommend using UV oil.
